Dr. Jamel Ortoleva is a graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where he was awarded his MD in May of 2012. He completed residency in Anesthesia at Yale New Haven Hospital, Critical Care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2018. He is a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist and Intensivist at Boston Medical Center and is regularly involved in the care of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patients. He is Associate Professor of Anesthesiology through the Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine and a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography. He is the director of research in the department of Anesthesiology at Boston Medical Center with over 140 peer reviewed manuscripts. He is co-editor for the critical section of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia and has performed over 450 article reviews. His research interests include mechanical circulatory support decision making, mechanical circulatory support initiation and management, vasoplegia management, right ventricular failure, echocardiography, and resuscitation.
